It was announced today that Jeremy Roenick, a veteran of 1363 games over 20 seasons in the NHL, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Boston native had an on and off-ice career marred in controversy, but it's hard to deny his greatness. Roenick was an eight time All Star and scored 513 goals and 703 assists for 1216 points -- good for 47th all time in points. He had surpassed the 100-point plateau three times in his career and was a two-time 50 goal scorer. Internationally, Roenick was part of the 2002 US team that won Silver at the Olympics in Salt Lake City. Notably, he never won any awards in the NHL.

The centerman split his career between the Chicago Black Hawks/Blackhawks, Phoenix Coyotes (twice), Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers and the San Jose Sharks.

Before he was able stick it in the NHL he was a member of the Hull Olympiques for the 1989-90 season where he scored 34 goals and 36 assists for 70 points in just 26 games. Despite the short stint in the Q, his play was good enough to be named to the QMJHL's Second All-Star team.

Also inducted this year were Pavel Datsyuk, Shea Weber, Natalie Darwitz and Krissy Wendell-Pohl as players, and David Poile and Colin Campbell as executives.

    Better Luck Next Year

The former Moncton Wildcats goaltender Corey Crawford was a notable snub this year. A two-time Stanley Cup and Jennings Trophy winner, Crawford has the resume but will have to wait at least another year before his name goes in the Hall of Fame.
