Each week, the QMJHL names a "Team of the Week" honoring the league's top players. Three forwards, two defensemen, and one goaltender are selected each week, based on their gameplay from the previous week.
For the week of October 30-November 5, 2023, the following players from five different QMJHL teams were chosen:
Forwards
Defensemen
Goaltender
It was definitely a week to remember for Chicoutimi goaltender Mathys Fernandez. He was perfect on the week, winning all three games he appeared in, and perfect in one of those games by registering a shutout. That left the 18-year-old with a goals-against average of 1.00 and a 0.963 save percentage.
Making a total of 79 saves through those three games, Fernandez backstopped the Sags to victory in close and wide-open games. The shutout was just his second in his early QMJHL career.
A native of Blainville, QC, Fernandez was acquired by Chicoutimi from Val-d'Or this summer and boasts a 5-2-1-2 record to start the season.
