Cape Breton won a big one over Halifax on Friday night.

It's always busy on a QMJHL Friday night, and week six saw some key games in action across the league.

Our focus brings us back to an opening weekend showdown between two Nova Scotian foes in Halifax and Cape Breton, and some bad blood continuing here into October.

Much was made of Jack Fichthorn's expressive eagle celebration after a shootout victory in the first meeting between these two sides, and best believe those emotions were still high riding into this one.

Mateo Nobert got the scoring going in the first period, before Shawn Carrier doubled the advantage just over 90 seconds later.

Brayden Reynolds would get Cape Breton on the board with his first career QMJHL goal, before Quinn Kennedy slipped one past Lucas Beckman to restore the two-goal advantage to the visitors.

To cap off a busy opening frame, Liam Lefebvre got one back for the hosts late on, sending the teams into the dressing room with the score favouring the Mooseheads 3-2.

The game would flip in the second period. Jack Broderick got his own first Q goal to tie the game up at three, before Maxim Schafer gave Cape Breton their first lead of the night with just 24 seconds left in the period.

Lefebvre would double dip with a power-play goal to make it 5-3 in the third, before Romain L'Italien put the game to bed at 6-3.

As the seconds ticked down, Beckman made sure to bring back the Eagle celebration, this time with his side on the winning end of things.
