Val-d'Or rise atop the QMJHL table with a statement win over Quebec.
Saturday featured six QMJHL games on display, but most eyes were on a battle of two of the very top teams in the league this season.
It was the Val-d'Or Foreurs who came out on top, extending their run of amazing form with a big win over the Quebec Remparts.

It was the West-leading Foreurs who got the party started, with Nathan Brisson showing off a nice pair of mitts before finding the finish. Evan Sercerchi would double that lead on the man advantage past the halfway point of the period.
But, the Remparts would fight back. Two goals down the stretch of the opening frame from Egan Beveridge and Mavrick Rousseau-Hamel brought the game back to level terms as the teams headed to the locker rooms for first intermission.
From there, it was all Val-d'Or. They pushed throughout the second, and finally got the lead back late in the period through Jacob Gouchie's first of the season. Then, who else but the league's leading scorer in Philippe Veilleux to put his name on the scoresheet to extend the lead to 4-2, which held into the third.
Nolann Heroux would bury one to make it 5-2 early in the final frame, and the Foreurs would ride that victory out from there to pick up a statement win, and stick atop the league table.
These teams will face off again on Sunday in the second half of a back-to-back.
