Moncton beats Halifax, among a handful of any games on a busy QMJHL Friday.

As always, Fridays bring a fair shake of QMJHL games.

This week, there were five matchups to ponder, with an Atlantic Canada battle between the Moncton Wildcats and Halifax Mooseheads among the most interesting.

It's always a fun battle when the Wildcats and Mooseheads face off, two teams with some serious success in their recent history. Friday's matchup was no different.

Nathan Langlois got the scoring underway in the first period, with his fourth of the season giving the visitors the early lead as they look to become the first team to take two points off the 'Cats this season.

That would be all from the first, a period Halifax controlled away at the Avenir Centre for the more part. Moncton would turn it on in the second, though, with a Niko Tournas power-play goal knotting the score up at one at the three-quarter mark of the middle frame.

The third is where the party really got going. Oleg Kulebiakin got his first of the campaign, before Liam Bursaw tied it right back up. Tournas would strike again on the man advantage to give the Wildcats their first lead of the night, and vault the overager to the top of the league goalscoring table.

As the clock ticked down, it seemed like the hosts were about to grind out another one-goal win, something that's been a theme for the group this season. But, with three seconds to go in the third, Owen Phillips got one past Yegor Rybkin to send this game to overtime.

In the extra frame, Liam Kilfoil would waste no time going to work, scoring a beauty to keep his team perfect, and defeat his former team in the process.

Rybkin made 30 saves to pick up the win, while Shayne Gould's two assists matched Tournas' two goals.
