Hynes, 17, stands at 6-foot-4 and has been playing with the BCHL's Victoria Grizzlies going point-less in 11 games.
Despite lack of production in Victoria, Hynes was a fairly prolific defenseman in the SJHL with the Notre Dame Hounds last season. There, he picked up 24 points (1+23) across 56 games as his team's second most prolific scorer on defense.
Hynes is a former 14th round pick by the organization in the 2022 QMJHL Draft, and never committed to ensure he remained college eligible.
He's yet another player who has made the move to the QMJHL thanks to the ruling earlier this month allowing major junior players to play NCAA hockey after their junior career is over.
