The Shawinigan Cataractes have announces that they have singed NHL draft eligible goaltender Owen Bresson.

Bresson, 18, joins the Cataractes after posting a .908 save percentage and an 8-1-1 record with the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL.

He's now the third Chiefs player to leave for the QMJHL, following Victoriaville's Enzo Lottin and fellow Cataractes teammate defenseman Olivier Beaulieu.

Bresson isn't committed to an NCAA program as of yet.

As a result of the signing, the Shawinigan Cataractes have cut former OHL champion Liam Sztuska after five games.

Sztuska, 20, has played in five games since joining the Cataractes from the Peterbough Petes of the OHL, where he's amassed a very solid .905 save percentage.

The move is quite shocking as he was tied for fifth in save percentage in the OHL despite playing on a Petes team that missed the playoffs entirely.

Hopefully, Sztuska is able to bounce back as he's a more than capable enough goaltender at the major junior level.
