Beaulieu, 19, has 10 points (1+9) over 18 games with the BCHL's Chilliwack Chiefs, where the Terrebonne-born, left shot blueliner played the last three seasons.
He was previously drafted by the Armada with the 120th pick, in the seventh round of the 2021 QMJHL Draft.
Beaulieu is committed to the Dartmouth College, and should he sign with Shawinigan -- which one would assume will happen given the relatively high acquisition cost-- it would make him the first NCAA-bound player to make the jump to the QMJHL after the passing of the ruling this week which allows CHL players to maintain their Division-I eligibility.
Adding a defenseman like Beaulieu would be a big get for the Cataractes, as the team came into the season with aspirations of contention, but are currently #9 in the league.
