The Gatineau Olympiques have claimed and signed overage defenseman Taos Jordan this past weekend.
Jordan, 20, played parts of four seasons in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack, totalling 51 points (7+44) over 191 games.
Last season, he hit a career high of 25 points (4+21) across 68 games.
This move comes after the Olympiques opened up an overage slot with the departure of left winger Nathan Levesque.
Jordan started the season on the Attack, playing in two games and going point-less, before being placed on waivers in favour of the return of Anaheim Ducks prospect defenseman Konnor Smith, new addition Bruce McDonald and Sound staple Landon Hookey.
After clearing waivers, he began practicing with the Jr. B squad. Although, he was claimed by the Olympiques, marking his move to the 'Q'.
"He’ll bring stability to our defense, as well as experience and leadership," said Olympiques general manager Serge Beausoleil in a press release about the Jordan.
Steady on the ice, he's also a gem off the ice -- designing the team's Black History Month jerseys as well as helping grow the game in Jamaica where his family is from.
This past off-season, he represented Team Jamaica as its captain at the Challenger series alongside Kingston Frontenacs left winger Maleek McGowan and former Sherbrooke Phoenix left winger Kolby Johnson.
Since his signing, Jordan has already gotten into two games with the Olympiques, but has still failed to register his first point of the season in the CHL.
