After 13 games Brandon Lavoie has left the QMJHL, after an unsuccessful stint in Victoriaville.
Lavoie, 18, had registered an .874 save percentage between stints with the Cape Breton Eagles and the Victoriaville Tigres.
He joined the Tigres at the trade deadline after being pushed out of Cape Breton's goaltending rotation by Alexis Cournoyer, who joined the team originally as a warm body while Nashville Predators prospect Jakub Milota was at the World Juniors. As Lavoie registered an .847 save percentage in December and Alexis Cournoyer tallied a .966 save percentage -- the writing was on the wall.
However, things wouldn't improve for Lavoie in Victoriaville, with just a .785 save percentage across three games.
Despite the poor play, it was Lavoie's decision to leave the team, as the goaltender grew homesick and was unsure of his path forward.
Before December, Lavoie was a more than capable goaltender -- carrying an impressive .920 save percentage across seven games. Should Lavoie choose to continue his career, he could very well be back next season as he'll be 19 years old to start the season.
