The Czech Under-20 team has released their rosters for the Under-20 Five Nations tournament.
The tournament is similar to the World Junior Showcase, as it is often the first chance to determine locks and hopeful players who may represent their country at the World Juniors in December.
Czech's roster features a number of CHL talents, including two names that should be familiar to QMJHL fans.
Jan Sprynar is coming off a busy season, splitting time between the Rimouski Océanic and the Shawinigan Cataractes before finding his place in Halifax while only missing a single game. Across 67 games for the three teams, Sprynar netted 38 points (15+22), with 20 of those points coming in his last 28 games with the Mooseheads.
His fellow QMJHL representative is Pavel Simek who is coming off a 38 points (18+20) season with the Saint John Sea Dogs. This year, Simek is expected to play for the Rimouski Océanic who selected him with their first round pick in the CHL Import Draft this season.
Additionally, while not a confirmed QMJHLer, the team also features Acadie Bathurst's 2024 CHL Import pick Petr Sikora, who is coming off a great season, splitting time between Ocelari Trinec and their junior squad. With Trinec Jr., Sikora notched 40 points (13+27) in just 30 games. He would also play in 22 games on the main squad, posting 3 points (1+2), good enough for the Washington Capitals to call his name in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
The tournament will take place between August 27th to the 31st.
