    What's old is new.

As of this week, it has been announced that the Winter Olympics will be returning to Salt Lake City in 2034. The city was home to the 2002 Winter Olympics, which was one of the most successful Olympics ever, with over two billion viewers, over 1.5 million tickets sold, 13 billion hours watched and a final surplus of $40 million dollars that would go on to repair the facilities.

With the news of the Olympics return to Utah, what better time to look at some of the QMJHL talent that played at the tournament.

Team Canada won gold, thanks in part due to strong goaltending from Martin Brodeur. The former QMJHL star had the lowest goals against out of goalies who played five or more games at the tournament with nine, while rocking a .914 save percentage. Brodeur had four wins and a tie at the tournament, not playing in Canada's sole loss.

Also front and center on the gold medal winning team was team captain Mario Lemieux, whose six points was tied for fifth best at the tournament. On the other side of the coin, was youngster Simon Gagne who notched four points over six games at just 21 years old.

Matching Lemieux's totals was an unlikely player, France's Philippe Bozon. While Bozon was a veteran of 144 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, the 36-year old had been out of the NHL for seven years by the Olympics. Despite this, he led France with six points over just four games, with three goals and assists.

Canada would beat the United States in the gold medal game, leaving Jeremy Roenick and his team with the silver medal. Roenick was a core contributor for the States, notching five points in the tournament.
