With the 2024 NHL Draft wrapping up last month, it's time to turn towards the 2025 NHL Draft.
This article will list 20 first time eligible players including 15 skaters and five goaltenders worth keeping an eye on this season. Furthermore, there will be five extra skaters at the end who have previously gone undrafted, but could be strong re-entry candidates.
Even though the list isn't ranked, Caleb Desnoyers is atop that list for the moment. Desnoyers has already been able to separate himself from the pack in his D-1 season last year, scoring at a near point a game pace in the QMJHL.
Moncton might have seen a coaching change this year with the hiring of Gardiner MacDougall, but Desnoyers is already familiar having scored five points in five games under him while representing Canada at the under 18's last May. The Wildcats seem to be making a major push at winning the Gilles-Courteau Trophy -- and potentially even the Memorial Cup -- and there is little doubt that Desnoyers can be front and center of the team that could be there by next summer.
While the start of the QMJHL season is still a way's away, you should be able spot some of these players at the Hlinka-Gretzky U-18 tournament.
