Goalie goals are a fairly uncommon occurrence.

Last night, we were treated with one as Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson rocketed one down the ice and into an empty net -- marking the league's 18th ever.

The QMJHL, on the other hand, has seen only 12 in its storied past, with two occuring last season.

The most recent one was last December when then Acadie-Bathurst Titan goaltender Antoine Keller sent the puck down the ice. Although instead of going into the net, it landed straight onto the opposing goalie's stick.

Although thanks to a misplay, that puck would go off a defender and into their own net, with Keller as the last credited Titan player to touch the puck -- earning him the honour.

However the last goalie to rifle the puck into the opposing net was Halifax's Mathis Rousseau, who scored on an empty net just a couple months prior.

With two last season, could we see another QMJHL goalie goal this season? One would imagine that Gustavsson's might at least give goalies the inspiration should they get the opportunity to make the play.
