The Carolina Hurricanes will be without captain Jordan Staal and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere tonight as they take on the LA Kings.

Staal, 36, is Carolina's go-to shutdown center and an integral piece of their penalty kill.

He also has 12 goals and 33 points this season, averaging 15:27 per game.

According to the team, he is dealing with a lower-body injury and coach Rod Brind'Amour insinuated it was due to a blocked shot on Thursday.

Gostisbehere, 31, is the Hurricanes' top power play quarterback and the leading blueliner scorer on the team with seven goals and 38 points.

According to the team, he is out with illness and per Rod Brind'Amour on the pre-game broadcast, it's apparently going through the room too just like earlier in the year.

Andrei Svechnikov will also miss a fifth consecutive game tonight too as he continues to work his way back to a return.

In their places, Juha Jaaska and Scott Morrow will draw into the lineup against LA.

Here's how the team will lineup according to team reporter Walt Ruff:

Seth Jarvis - Sebastian Aho - Jackson Blake
Taylor Hall - Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Jack Roslovic
Jordan Martinook - Mark Jankowski - Eric Robinson
Juha Jaaska - Tyson Jost - Logan Stankoven

    Jaccob Slavin - Brent Burn
    Dmitry Orlov - Jalen Chatfield
    Sean Walker - Scott Morrow

    Pyotr Kochetkov
