The 2025 IIHF World Championships kicked off yesterday, and six members of the Columbus Blue Jackets were in action. Let’s take a look at how they did.
First up, Team USA faced Denmark and made quick work of them, cruising to a 5-0 win. However, Zach Werenski didn’t play in the game yesterday.
Next, Canada played early this morning against Slovenia. They also recorded a shutout—this time an 11-save effort—and won 4-0. While head coach Dean Evason picked up the win, both Kent Johnson and Adam Fantilli were held off the scoresheet.
Lastly, Blue Jackets prospect Samuel Knazko and Slovakia were on the losing side of a 5-0 shutout at the hands of Sweden.
Six Blue Jackets Set To Represent Their Countries At 2025 IIHF Worlds
With the 2025 IIHF World Championships starting tomorrow, it’s a good time to go over the six members of the Columbus Blue Jackets who will be heading overseas to represent their countries.
Overall, it was a fairly good Day 1 of the tournament for most of the Blue Jackets’ players. Hopefully, they can carry on their winning ways and make a push for a medal.
