Due to Tampa Bay's playoff struggles, some have naturally questioned Lightning head coach Jon Cooper's future with the team. However, Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois has now provided a big update regarding Cooper.
While speaking to reporters, including NHL.com's Benjamin Pierce, BriseBois confirmed that Cooper will remain the Lightning's head coach for next season.
Seeing the Lightning keep Cooper around is understandable. He has had immense success as the Lightning's bench boss, and there is reason to believe that he can help them turn things back around.
In 961 games as the Lightning's head coach, Cooper has put together a 572-306-83 record and notably has won two Stanley Cup championships. Given his success with the Lightning, it is understandable that they are not ready to move on from him. It will be fascinating to see what kind of season the Lightning put together with Cooper behind the bench in 2025-26 from here.
