Matthew Grimes potted the go-ahead goal in the second period, and Aiden Wright made 31 saves in the Sioux Falls Stampede's 2-1 win over Muskegon.

Aiden Wright made 31 saves, and Matthew Grimes scored the go-ahead power-play goal as the Sioux Falls Stampede recorded a 2-1 win on the road against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Saturday.

Sam Spehar also found the back of the net for the Herd, his fifth goal of the season and first since his two-goal performance on October 12.

Wright stopped 31 of 32 and was particularly sharp in the third period, making 16 saves to pick up his sixth win of the year. It marked the third time this season that Wright made at least 30 saves in a game, and he has collected wins in all of those.

The Herd improved to 2-0-0-1 in three games against the Jacks this season, with their only blemish coming in Friday's shootout loss.

Xavier Veilleux provided the lone tally for Muskegon, his third of the season and has matched all of last year's output.

The Stampede entered Saturday with a league-worst 11.3% power-play conversion and began the night going 0-for-2 on the man advantage before Grimes' tally.

Meanwhile, Sioux Falls killed off all five of Muskegon's power-play opportunities, improving their penalty-kill rate to 81.6% on the season.

Veilleux opened the scoring at the 6:01 mark of the first period on a play in transition. Tynan Lawrence dished a centering feed to Veilleux, who redirected the puck into the Sioux Falls net. The Muskegon defenseman now has three goals in his last six games.

Spehar potted his fifth of the year on a wrister from the left-wing circle to tie the game at 1-1 in the second period.

Later in the frame, the Stampede capitalized on a Lumberjacks turnover. Anthony Bongo sent a pass from below the net to Grimes in the high slot, who rifled his shot into the Muskegon net.

Sioux Falls now has points in each of their last six games and eight of their last ten heading into next weekend's matchups against Sioux City and Omaha.
