Recapping notable performances from NHL Draft-eligible prospects in the USHL, including two more goals from Dubuque's Gavin Cornforth

Gavin Cornforth (2025) returned to the Fighting Saints with 111 games of USHL experience.

Except now the Boston College commit is showing what he can do in a top-line role.

Cornforth checked in as a projected 6th/7th round pick in Central Scouting's Preliminary List, a position that seemed like a good bet to increase as the season progresses.

The 17-year-old tallied two more goals over the weekend in Dubuque's sweep over Lincoln and Tri-City.

Cornforth has demonstrated the ability to score in a bunch of different ways.

On Friday, he followed the initial shot and cleaned up the rebound in front. The following night, he led a 2-on-1 rush, kept the puck himself, and rifled a shot into the back of the net.

Cornforth is up to 11 points (6-5-11) in 14 games, tied for the team-high.

Here are other notable performances from draft-eligible prospects in the USHL for games Nov. 1-3.

Rudolfs Berzkalns (2026), Muskegon Lumberjacks

Berzkalns scored a pair of goals on four shots in two games this weekend. Both of his goals came on plays in transition. The 16-year-old tender joined a 3-on-1 rush and tapped in his first of the night on Friday. Berzkalns then added his second in the third period on a beautiful backhander. He has needed some time to adjust to the USHL. However, his shot volume has certainly increased over the last few games, suggesting he is beginning to feel more comfortable.

Brendan McMorrow, Waterloo Black Hawks

McMorrow is an interesting re-entry candidate in the 2025 NHL Draft to keep close tabs on. The Denver commit tallied his seventh goal of the season for Waterloo on Friday night. He showed good speed to carry the puck through the neutral zone before heading to the net and burying a backdoor tap-in. McMorrow finished the weekend with one goal on six shots and one assist.

Teddy Mutryn (2025), Chicago Steel

Mutryn is in a good grove right now, having tallied points in each of his last three games. The Boston College commit recorded three points on two goals and one assist in two games for the Steel over the weekend. Mutryn potted an empty netter in Friday's game before scoring on a play in front where the goaltender was unable to freeze the puck. He's up to six goals on the season, five coming in the last five games.

Aidan Park, Green Bay Gamblers

Park is another re-entry candidate who will probably hear his name called at some point in the 2025 NHL Draft. The Michigan commit is playing some good hockey right now, extending his point streak to three games over the weekend. Park tallied a goal on eight shots and three assists in Green Bay's home-and-home with Chicago.

Ashton Schultz (2025), Chicago Steel

Schultz is slippery in his offensive attack, as seen in both of his goals over the weekend. The Steel forward has a real knack for getting behind the defense and uses his speed to make plays. The North Dakota commit finished the weekend with three points (2-1-3) on six shots.

Sam Laurila, Fargo Force

Laurila is getting the opportunity to showcase himself as an all-situations defenseman with Fargo this season. He tallied his first goal of the season on Saturday, a power-play snipe. Added, Laurila tallied two assists on Friday, giving him 12 on the season, the most among all USHL defensemen.
