Alex Edler, you have company. During Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the San Jose Sharks, Quinn Hughes tied Edler for the most points by a defenceman in Vancouver Canucks history. Hughes' 409th career point came via a second assist on the game-winner, with the goal reading Jake DeBrusk (28) from Brock Boeser (25) and Quinn Hughes (60).

Hughes' assist was historic for a multitude of reasons. The assist was the 350th of his career, making him just the fifth defenceman in NHL history to hit the milestone before turning 26. Hughes also became the first player in franchise history under 26 to record 350 assists, while his 409 points are the fourth most by a Canucks player before their 26th birthday.

Now in his seventh season, Hughes has developed into one of the premier players in the NHL. He has 76 points in 67 games, which ranks third among defencemen this year. Hughes will also finish this season as the Canucks leading scorer, as he currently has a 26 point lead over Boeser, who sits second.

Vancouver wraps up their 2024-25 season with a home game on Wednesday against the Vegas Golden Knights. All eyes will be on Hughes as he attempts to set the franchise record for points by a defenceman. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm PT from Rogers Arena.
