It was a less than ideal afternoon for Asanali Sarkenov (Spokane Chiefs) and Team Kazakhstan, but Team Czechia ran far away with the first of two contests on Saturday and took a 14-2 victory. The WHL was well represented among the Czechs, with four of five skaters recording at least one point. As for Sarkenov, he recorded two shots on goal in 15:26 of ice time.
Jakub Stancl- Kelowna Rockets
A true breakout game for the St. Louis Blues prospect, Stancl finished with a hat trick and two assists for a total of five points. After hitting a post early on, the 19-year old went on a run: Jumping up into open space, showcasing a hard and accurate shot, and making some difficult passes look easy.
Adam Jecho- Edmonton Oil Kings
Another draft pick of the Blues, Jecho is still improving on his post-draft season and this game is no exception. The Oil Kings winger was always in the right place at the right time, netting himself a goal and a handful of chances.
Vojtech Port- Lethbridge Hurricanes
Port had himslelf a game, totalling three assists and showing off a smart shot from the point. A sixth-round draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2023, Port was showing off his prowess all game; smooth skating, knowing where his teammates are, and setting up rushes with ease. A professional career could be in the works for the Hurricanes defender in the near future.
Also tallying a point in Saturday's contest was Dominik Petr (Brandon Wheat Kings) and Miroslav Holinka (Edmonton) looked dangerous all game despite not getting on the scoresheet.
