Welcome to this week's edition of THN's WHL Game of the Week. In this segment, we break down the Game of the Week as mentioned on the latest episode of THN on the 'Dub. In this week's recap, we examine the Prince George Cougars' high-scoring win over the Medicine Hat Tigers.

In the battle of two of the highest-scoring teams in the WHL, it was the visitors who scored the first goal as 2024 NHL Draft prospect Cayden Lindstrom found the back of the net late in the first on the power play to put Medicine Hat up 1-0. Not to be outdone, Prince George was able to tie the game in the final minute of the first as another draft prospect, Terik Parascak, scored his 14th also on a power play to send the game tied into the intermission.

Unlike the first, the second featured a flurry of goals. Once again, the Tigers were able to strike first, thanks to another power play goal from Hunter St. Martin early in the frame, but the lead was short-lived as the Cougars potted the next three. A goal by Riley Heidt sandwiched between two by Ondrej Becher helped put Prince George up 4-2 midway through the second. Rhett Parsons was able to get one back before the end of the second, but the Tigers were still in a hole, skating off into the second intermission down one.

To start the third, Medicine Hat came out flying, scoring twice in the first three and a half minutes of the period. Both Shane Smith and Lindstrom scored their tenth of the season, and the Tigers once again had the lead 5-4. Unfortunately for Medicine Hat, the league's best offence still had some firepower left as Prince George scored three times in the final six minutes. Hudson Thorton and Bauer Dumanski provided goals from the blue line, while Parasack hit the empty netter as the Cougars skated off with a well-deserved 7-5 victory. In net, Evan May made 25 saves for the Tigers, while Ty Young stopped 23 shots in the victory.
