A team riding a ten-game win streak, another looking to get back into the win column, and two squads looking to get an edge on one another. This weekend in WHL hockey is shaping up to be an exciting one and we at THN have three contests that you should be watching.
Saskatoon Blades @ Kamloops Blazers
Saskatoon has been a force to be reckoned with all season, especially with the return of Nashville Predators prospect Tanner Molendyk adding a fluid dynamic to the blue line. Suffering a 2-1 loss to the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night was certainly a hit to team morale, but we've learned so far that this is a team that simply gets back up and keeps going. On the other hand, Kamloops is hot, riding a three-game win streak; picking up a pair of victories over the Victoria Royals, as well as one against the Spokane Chiefs. Both leading scorers Ben Riche and Nathan Behm should have a field day for their respective clubs.
Red Deer Rebels @ Tri-City Americans
The Americans have made it to the elusive ten-game mark of their win streak, and look to add another notch against Red Deer. WHL rookie Gavin Garland has been lighting things up of late for Tri-City, raking in 20 points in his first 15 contests. Historically the Rebels have been good against the Americans, taking both of the last two matchups, but Tri-City carries an 8-1-0-0 home record into Saturday's game. Minnesota Wild prospect Chase Wutzke has been holding the fort in Red Deer, carrying a .904 save percentage through 13 appearances this season.
Vancouver Giants @ Prince George Cougars
This one is a two-for-one deal! Two teams that have been heating up as of late, Vancouver and Prince George will play a pair of games at the CN Centre on Saturday and Sunday, both clubs looking to maintain the upward momentum. Top 2025 NHL Draft Prospect Cameron Schmidt is vying to become the first WHL player this season to hit 20 goals, and could very well hit that this weekend. On the other side, Washington Capitals selection Terik Parascak looks to extend his point streak to eight games while picking up 16 points in his previous seven.
