Welcome to the WHL three stars of the day from the 2024 World Juniors. This daily article selects three WHLers who made a difference for their home country at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship. Here are the players from day two of the tournament.
Leo Braillard was arguably Switzerland's best player in their 3-0 loss to Slovakia. He led the Swiss with five shots on goal and was noticeable throughout his 14:42 of ice time. He has been better than advertised for the Lethbridge Hurricanes since being claimed off waivers earlier this year and will need to continue to generate scoring chances if Switzerland wants to avoid relegation.
For the second game in a row, Vancouver Giants Samuel Honzek delivered for Czechia. Playing 17:54, he recorded the game-winner while also registering five shots on net. A force at both ends of the ice, he continues to step up his game in his final World Juniors.
It is often hard to pick out stars in a 10-0 win, but Conor Geekie was one player that really stood out for Canada. The Wenatchee Wild forward recorded two goals and was a difference-maker throughout the game for the Canadians. A crucial part of Team Canada's offence, he will need to have more performances like this if Canada wants to walk away with a Gold Medal.
