A look at some of the players that stood out during the 2023 WHL Cup

The 2023 WHL Cup showcased some of the best and brightest prospects across the league. From first-round picks to undrafted prospects, many stood out as they proudly represented their provinces. Here is a look at six standouts from the tournament.

Liam and Markus Ruck- Team BC

From start to finish, Liam and Markus Ruck were virtually impossible to stop. While Liam led the tournament in goals with seven, Markus finished as the leader in assists with eight while they also finished the tournament as the only two players to hit double digits in points. A dynamic one-two punch, it will be exciting to see what they can do for the Medicine Hat Tigers moving forward.

    Carson Carels- Team Manitoba

Carson Carels had a tournament to remember. Not only did the Prince George Cougars defenceman help Manitoba win their first-ever Gold Medal, but he was also named MVP after leading all defenders in goals with three and points with five. Already averaging over two points per game at the U17 level this season, it shouldn't be long before he is producing at the WHL level.

    Peyton Shore- Team Manitoba

Peyton Shore put on a show for Team Manitoba and was one of the main reasons they captured Gold. The Red Deer Rebels goaltender stopped 106 of the 119 shots he faced during the tournament, which included a 53-save performance in the Final. The only goaltender in the tournament to not only face over 100 shots but make over 100 saves, he produced one of the best performances by a goaltender at this tournament.

    Dayne Beuker- Team Saskatchewan

Dayne Beuker showed the WHL just how dangerous he can be with the puck on his stick. The Lethbridge Hurricanes forward finished second in goals at the tournament with six, helping lead Team Saskatchewan to a Bronze Medal. One of the top U15 scorers from last season, he has the potential to be one of the WHL's top point producers in the next few years.

    Caelan Joudrey- Team Alberta

Team Alberta had several standouts, but Caelan Joudrey was arguably their best player throughout the tournament. The Wenatchee Wild forward finished with four goals and eight points as he helped Alberta capture Silver. Listed at 6'3", the massive winger could cause havoc once he makes the jump to the WHL.
