
Smyth played over 180 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Former Moose Jaw Warriors forward Ryan Smyth is headed to the IIHF Hall of Fame. Smyth will join Jaromir Jagr, Natalie Darwitz, Mel Davidson, Kenny Jonsson, Igor Liba, Petteri Nummelin, Jaroslav Pouzar, Desideriu Varga, Anatolii Brezvin, Al Michaels, and the Czechia Olympic team from 1998 as part of the 2024 induction class. The IIHF Hall of Fame is located inside the Hockey Hall of Fame and features other outstanding WHL alums, including Scott Niedermayer, Joe Sakic and former Vancouver Giants owner Pat Quinn.
Before starting his stellar career in the NHL, Smyth was a dominant force at the WHL level. He played 188 games for the Warriors, scoring 110 goals and recording 224 points. To this day, he still sits in the top ten for goals and top 15 for points in franchise history. He is also one of four players to have their number retired by the organization, joining Theo Fleury, Kelly Buchberger and Mike Keane.
Smyth's best season in Moose Jaw came during the 1994-95 season. In 50 games, the then Edmonton Oilers prospect scored 41 goals and finished the season with 86 points. He also represented Canada at the World Juniors, where he won a Gold Medal and was named to the CHL's First All-Star Team at the end of the campaign. He would make the jump to the NHL the next season and finished his career with 842 points in 1270 while playing for the Oilers, Colorado Avalanche, New York Islanders and LA Kings. As for his career with Canada, he would win five Gold Medals, including one at the 2002 Olympics, while representing his country over 80 times at different events.
