The Detroit Red Wings prospect recently returned from the World Juniors, where he played for Team Canada.

The Portland Winterhawks pulled off a last-minute blockbuster, acquiring Detroit Red Wings prospect Nate Danielson from the Brandon Wheat Kings. In exchange for Danielson, the Wheat Kings recieved forward Nick Johnson, defenseman Rhett Ravndahl, a 2025 and 2027 first-round pick a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick. With his acquisition, Portland now has six NHL-associated players, including Tyson Jugnauth, who they acquired via trade a month ago.

Based on Danielson's game, he should have no problem fitting into the Winterhawks lineup. He is a talented two-way player who should provide a massive boost to Portland's top six. Already considered a contender, Danielson has the potential to be a difference-maker in the postseason as the Winterhawks look for their first Memorial Cup berth since 2013.

As for Brandon, they not only get draft picks, but some talented young players that should help the franchise over the next few seasons. Johnson has 18 points in 29 games so far this season, while Ravndahl is a strong defender who can help the penalty kill. With the Wheat Kings currently holding down the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference, both will be counted on to provide solid depth as Brandon continues their pursuit of a postseason berth.
