A look at one player from each division that stood out during Week 15 of the 2024-25 WHL season.

Evan Friesen Goal vs Tri-City, January 5, 2025

Welcome to THN's "WHL Standouts From The Week" article. In this weekly column, we highlight one player from each division who impressed over the last week. Here is a look at the four standouts from week 15.

Burke Hood- Vancouver Giants

Burke Hood had a week to remember. The 2025 NHL Draft prospect recorded two consecutive shutouts while stopping 110 of 114 shots over his past four games. Now with eight wins on the season, Hood is one of two draft-eligible goaltenders with at least two shutouts, while his .895 save percentage leads all rookies this season.

Ben Kindel- Calgary Hitmen

No player has been more consistent than Ben Kindel over the past two months. The 2025 NHL Draft prospect has points in 20 straight games, including eight in his last four games. With the Calgary Hitmen loading up ahead of the trade deadline, the biggest winner could be Kindel, who should see his draft stock rise based on his recent performances.

Evan Friesen- Wenatchee Wild

Evan Friesen put on a show over the past week. The Wenatchee Wild forward recorded ten points in four games, including a five-point effort against the Tri-City Americans. Up to 42 points through 35 games this season, Friesen is lighting it up in his final WHL season.

Josh Banini- Moose Jaw Warriors

If you aren't familiar with Josh Banini, you better start as the Moose Jaw Warriors goaltender is having a strong start to his season. He went 1-0-1 this past week while stopping 72 of 76 shots he faced. With a .924 save percentage through his first nine games this season, expect to see plenty more starts from Banini throughout the rest of the campaign.
