The Swift Current Broncos made yet another move, this time acquiring defenceman Tyson Galloway from the Calgary Hitmen. Listed at 6'4" and 201 pounds, the left-shot defenceman is expected to bring some physicality to the Broncos as they head into the postseason. Galloway has played his entire career with Calgary, recording 77 points and 198 penalty minutes in 216 games. He was also named captain this season and has worn a letter for this organization since the 2021-22 season.
In return, the Hitmen received a second and third-round pick in the 2026 WHL Draft. This is the second time in the last two days Calgary has traded a player for a second and third-round pick, having dealt Sean Tschigerl to the Lethbridge Hurricanes for two selections in the 2025 WHL Draft. The Hitmen currently sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference and have assembled a record of 15-17-5-1 through their first 38 games of the season.
The 2024 WHL trade deadline is set for Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 2:00 PM PT. While there have already been some big moves, expect fireworks as teams try to bulk up for the playoffs. Keep your eyes peeled to THN's WHL page for all the latest trade news heading into the deadline.
