Teddy bears will be flying all across the WHL over the next few weeks.
With the holiday season approaching, one of the best traditions around the WHL returned the Teddy Bear Toss. One of the few events that every team across the league takes part in, it is a charitable drive with the goal of giving back to those in need. It is also a great opportunity for people to test their arms, as throwing teddy bears onto the ice from a distance is not as easy as it looks.
The first game is already in the books as Swift Current's Rylan Gould became the first Teddy Bear Toss goal scorer of the year. According to the Broncos, "a total of 1,065 bears, mitts, and toques were flung onto the ice as part of the goal in support of the Salvation Army, the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital and the Children's Miracle Network." Overall, it is a great event that not only the fans get into but also the players as they help gather all the charitable items during the pause.
