Fraser Minten has been reassigned to the Kamloops Blazers after a four-game stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Fraser Minten is headed back to the Kamloops Blazers after being reassigned to the WHL by the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 2022 second-rounder played in four games for Toronto, averaging 11:26 of ice time a night during his short stint in the NHL.
The move could not come at a better time for the Blazers, as they have started the season with a record of 1-9-2. Minten, who finished the 2022-23 campaign with 67 points in 57 games, should provide a massive boost for a young team still trying to find its footing this year. He will once again be part of the leadership group and, with Kamloops yet to name a captain, could return with a "C" on his jersey.
His return to the WHL is also great news for Hockey Canada, as it means he will be available for this year's World Junior Team. Minten has yet to play for Canada at any level during his WHL career, but based on his play with Toronto, he should be a lock to make the squad. Add in the fact that Blazers' head coach Shaun Clouston is also a part of the team as an assistant coach, and it is safe to say he will be headed to Sweden in December to take part in the historic tournament.
While his time at the NHL level was short, Minten proved he can play at the pro level. He went 18 for 37 in the faceoff circle and was even given some opportunities on the penalty kill. Based on his overall play on the ice, do not be surprised if he is a full-time regular on the Maple Leafs in the 2024-25 season.
