This was the Lethbridge Hurricanes' third trade of the day.

The Vancouver Giants added some scoring depth up front by acquiring Tyson Zimmer from the Lethbridge Hurricanes. In return, the Hurricanes received Colton Langkow, a second-round draft pick in 2024, a third-round draft pick in 2025 and unsigned 2008-born prospect Kai Anderson. This was Lethbridge's third trade of the day, as they had acquired Dylan Sydor and Sean Tschigerl on Monday.

Zimmer brings 183 games worth of experience to the Giants and is projected to be one of their overagers next season. The 19-year-old winger has 23 points in 37 games and is closing in on 100 points for his WHL career. With Vancouver currently on their East Division road swing, he could be in the lineup as early as Tuesday night.

As for Lethbridge, they get some toughness in Colton Langkow, as well as some future assets. In 25 games this season, Langkow has six points and 54 penalty minutes. He has recorded 70 or more penalty minutes in each of the last two seasons and is on pace for 121 this year.

The 2024 WHL trade deadline is set for Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 2:00 PM PT. While there have already been some big moves, expect fireworks as teams try to bulk up for the playoffs. Keep your eyes peeled to THN's WHL page for all the latest trade news heading into the deadline.
