A look back at some of the top WHL players from this year's tournament.

The 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge is complete, and for the second time in its history, Canada White skated away with the Gold Medal. In total, 14 WHLers competed at the tournament, with six leaving the event with medals around their neck. Here is a look at four WHLers who stood out.
Gavin McKenna, Canada Red
As expected, Gavin McKenna put on a show at this year's tournament. The Medicine Hat Tigers forward led Team Red in goals with five and was the only WHL player to be named to the All-Star team. A dynamic offensive threat, he rose to the occasion and was able to help secure a fifth-place finish for Team Red.
Cole Reschny, Canada Red
Cole Reschny was one of the more impressive Canadian players from start to finish. The Victoria Royals forward developed some strong chemistry with McKenna, which led to him finishing in the top-10 for assists and points at the tournament. One of the WHL's top up-and-coming playmakers, he showed why he should be considered a top prospect for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
Cole Temple, Canada White
One of the leaders offensively for Team White this year was Cole Temple. The Regina Pats forward recorded six points and was able to cash in on the power play twice. He showed up when Canada White needed him most and now leaves the tournament with a Gold Medal hanging around his neck.
Cameron Schmidt, Canada White
Cameron Schmidt accomplished something few have: score a Golden Goal in overtime at the U-17s. The Vancouver Giants forward was able to showcase his speed and shot throughout the tournament, finishing with five goals as well as two in the shootout. He is an exciting player to watch and one that should be able to translate his success at the tournament back to the WHL.
