The WHL has suspended Swift Current Broncos head coach, Devan Praught, for five games for violating the WHL Standards of Conduct. The incident occurred during a practice on November 13 when, as per a video released by The Athletic, Praught was seen shouting and swearing at a player located near the bench area before skating over, swinging his stick down and breaking the player's stick. The incident was later reported to the WHL Security Network, and Praught was suspended indefinitely the next day.

In their statement, the WHL writes, "The WHL and Swift Current Broncos are committed to holding players and staff to the highest standards of conduct both on and off the ice." Praught has already served three games of his suspension and will be eligible to return behind the bench on November 29 when the Broncos take on the Medicine Hat Tigers at home. Assistant Coach Taras McEwen is expected to resume head coaching duties until the suspension is completed.

Swift Current has gone 2-1 in his absence, with big wins over Regina and Medicine Hat. They currently sit seventh in the Eastern Conference and are set to play two games in Moose Jaw before returning home to face the Tigers in what could be Praught's return behind the bench.
