Moose Jaw Warriors Name Lynden Lakovic As New Captain

Lynden Lakovic is the 37th captain in franchise history.

THN's The Wraparound- Gavin McKenna Hype

Before puck drop against the Brandon Wheat Kings, the Moose Jaw Warriors named 2025 NHL draft prospect Lynden Lakovic as their new captain. The 18-year-old is the 37th captain of the Warriors and takes over from Brayden Yager, who was traded earlier this season. Lakovic being named captain also coincides with his return from the lineup, as he has been out since December 28 with an injury.

Through 31 games this season, Lakovic has 17 goals and has tied his career high with 39 points. Drafted in the second round of the 2021 Bantam Draft by Moose Jaw, he has 85 points in 137 WHL games and was a key part of the Warriors' run to the Memorial Cup last season. Lakovic also participated in this year's CHL USA Prospects Challenge, recording a goal and an assist over the two games.

As for the 2025 NHL draft, Lakovic is considered a top prospect. He was ranked 12th among North American skaters by Central Scouting and is projected to be a first-round pick this season. Lakovic was ranked 13th on Ryan Kennedy's mid-season rankings and tenth on Toni Ferrari's Top-64 list before the World Juniors.
