Few players have had a better start to the season than Jagger Firkus. He currently sits fourth in league scoring with 56 points, and ranks in the top ten for goals and assists. On pace to shatter his career highs from last season, his play this season is a good reminder of why he was such a highly touted prospect heading into the 2022 NHL Draft.

Firkus is a dangerous player because he can burn teams in multiple ways. While he isn't afraid to shoot the puck, as evidenced by his 152 shots on the year, he is also a great playmaker, which makes life difficult for the opposition. This often results in defenders giving him space, which is a mistake as he is also one of the most creative players in the entire CHL.

As for his goal-scoring, Firkus delivers for his team in every situation. He is already up to three shorthanded goals which ties his output from last season and continues to be a force on the power play. This season, he has also shown an ability to not just break games open with six first goals but also close contests out, as he has five game-winning goals and six insurance goals. His ability to produce in every situation is valuable and one of the reasons Moose Jaw finds itself near the top of the Eastern Conference.

While there will be stiff competition, Firkus is an early contender to win the Four Broncos Trophy this season. As mentioned, he is affecting the game in many ways and has developed into one of the most dangerous players in the WHL. If he can keep up this point, there is little doubt that he will surpass both the 50-goal and 100-point marks this season.
