Initially drafted 122nd overall by the Brandon Wheat Kings in 2012, Thompson played almost 130 regular season and playoff games during his WHL career. With 63 career regular season wins, he currently sits tied for sixth in franchise history and was part of the 2016 team that made it to the Memorial Cup. He would leave USports after one season and made his pro debut in 2019 with the ECHL's Adirondack Thunder.
