
The NCAA Women’s Hockey Commissioners Association has narrowed the pool from 31 members of their watch list, to 12 semi-finalists for the NCAA Goalie of the Year Award.
The award, won in the past by PWHL netminders Aerin Frankel and Gwyneth Philips, and American national team member Ava McNaughton. The Wisconsin netminder won the award last season and is again nominated this season alongside Ève Gascon, who was a finalist last season.
Other semifinalists include Cornell's Annelies Bergmann, UConn's Tia Chan, Penn State's Katie DeSa, and Northeastern's Lisa Jönsson who were all semifinalists last year.
Newcomers to the nominations include Minnesota's Hannah Clark, Princeton's Uma Corniea, Quinnipiac's Felicia Frank, Yale's Samson Frey, Holy Cross' Abby Hornung, and Harvard's Ainsley Tuffy.
Tuffy is the nation's leader with a .956 save percentage in 15 games. Tia Chan however, has been a workhorse for UConn posted a .950 save percentage and 1.61 GAA. Felicia Frank has played more than any other netminder in NCAA Division 1 hockey this season appearing in 32 games while posted a .947 save percentage, 1.32 GAA and nine shutouts. Only Penn State's Katie DeSa, playing in the weaker Atlantic Hockey America conference, has more shutouts with 10 this season.
The Women’s Hockey Commissioners Association will announce the finalists during conference championships, and the winner at the NCAA Frozen Four in March.
