Wisconsin captain Casey O’Brien has passed Hilary Knight to become the University of Wisconsin women's hockey all-time leading scorer.

O'Brien put up six points in an 11-0 win over Bemidji State in the opening round of the WCHA playoffs. O'Brien now has 265 points in 177 career games passing Knight's previous mark of 262 points. O'Brien also passed Meghan Duggan and Brianna Decker this season as she climbed Wisconsin's scoring chart.

“Honestly, it's still hard to fully comprehend, but I think it's just a reflection of the teams that I've been on and how good they've been, how good my teammates have been and just the contributions that I was able to make, I'm honored," said O'Brien of setting the record. "I think it's more than just an individual award and it should be celebrated for the whole team and each team that I've been on."

“It’s remarkable. You have to stay healthy and you have to be consistent for a really long time," said Wisconsin head coach Mark Johnson. "You have to have support and you have to have players giving opportunities. They create assists and get goals. When Hilary (Knight) left, it was one of those situations where unless something unique comes along or something special comes along, then you’d probably be talking about it because her numbers were pretty crazy to me from the start."

O'Brien is eligible for the 2025 PWHL Draft and projects as a potential first round pick. It will be an opportunity for the Wisconsin star to join Hilary Knight, a current member of the Boston Fleet, in the PWHL.

O'Brien also set the single season record for most assists, a mark she previously held. Last season O'Brien set the record with 50 assists. She topped the mark this season with 55.

Wisconsin will now prepare for the WCHA Final Faceoff from MArch 7-8 in Duluth, Minnesota.
