The Clarkson Golden Knights took a pair of wins this weekend in Nashville to win the SMASHVILLE Women's Hockey Showcase.

Nashville didn't get a PWHL Takeover Tour game, but the city and the Nashville Predators have been doing their part to grow the game and showcase high level women's hockey locally.
This past weekend, that took the form of the annual SMASHVILLE Collegiate Women's Hockey Showcase featuring Penn State, Merrimack, St. Thomas, and the eventual champion Clarkson Golden Knights.
On the opening day of the tournament, Merrimack upset Penn State 3-1 to earn their way to the final, while Clarkson needed overtime to beat St. Thomas 5-4. Caroline Goffredo scored the overtime winner for the Golden Knights.
In a fight for third place, Penn State and St. Thomas played to a 1-1 tie on Saturday, a game which preceded the final between Merrimack and Clarkson.
Holly Gruber made 13 saves for Clarkson in the final in a 4-0 shutout win, while Clarkson peppered Merrimack's Calli Hogarth with 44 shots.
Haley Winn with the assist going to Nicole Gosling got Clarkson on the board in the opening period. In the second, Sena Catterall scored twice with Anne Cherkowski assisting on both.
The third saw Cherkowski score one of her own with Gosling assisting again.
