Emmy Fecteau of Concordia University has been named Hockey Canada's 2023 recipient of the Isobel Gathorne-Hardy Award.
University of Concordia star Emmy Fecteau has been awarded the Isobel Gathorne-Hardy Award, given to a women's hockey player in Canada who displays values, leadership and personal traits representing the broader women's hockey community.
The past two winners of the award were Marie-Philip Poulin and Eve Gascon.
Fecteau was a second team All-Canadian playing USports hockey with Concordia this season where she scored 32 points in 23 games. She also captained Team Canada at the 2023 Universaide in Lake Placid to a gold medal, recording four points in seven games while leading the tournament in face-off percentage.
At Concordia, Fecteau, who is studying to become an English-as-a-second-language teacher, was named the school's top women's athlete in 2023, and also earned Denise Beaudet Award recognizing her academic, athletic and community services.
With Concordia, Fecteau led her team to back-to-back RSEQ titles, and also won a USports national championship in 2022.
Fecteau also runs a women's hockey camp and provides free lessons to girls between the ages of four and 11.
Caroline Ouellette, this year's women's inductee to the Hockey Hall of Fame, who coaches at Concordia, is also a former winner of the award.
