Eve Gascon regularly puts up eye popping statistics, and is only one shutout away from claiming Minnesota-Duluth's all-time program shutout record, but for the standout netminder, who will soon be in camp with Team Canada, it's all about the wins.
Eve Gascon has impressive statistics. One being that she's now only one shutout away from setting the University of Minnesota-Duluth's all-time shutout record.
Gascon tied Emma Soderberg for the program record with 23 career shutouts for the Bulldogs by posting back-to-back Gascon made 44 saves in Minnesota-Duluth's 2-0 and 4-0 wins over Mercyhurst on the opening weekend of the 2026-27 NCAA women's hockey season.
But for Gascon, the senior from Terrebone, Quebec it's not about those stats or records, it's just about winning.
"I think it's just winning," said Gascon. "Like, obviously, it's fun and there's so many good goalender that have been in this program. So being on the run to kind of beat these goaltender is like it's fun and I'm like, of course I'm like trying a little bit, but I think it's also like how my defense and players in front of me are playing and they're playing great from the start of the season...The goal is always to win and the shutout is always just a plus. But if we win then I don't really care."
Winning back-to-back games by shut out on the weekend, as Gascon said "it brings confidence" to the Bulldogs.
For Gascon, she hopes to carry that confidence into the following week as well as she'll be vying for a spot alongside five goaltenders from the PWHL for a spot on Canada's World Championship roster at training camp in Quebec City. She'll also be joined by Bulldogs forward Caitlin Kraemer.
"I think that it's going to be a fun experience and just to to prove what like me and Kraem[er] are capable of coming from the Bulldogs," said Gascon. "We represent our team, too. So, I'm really excited and I think it's going to be a fun experience."
The Bulldogs will be without Gascon and Kraemer for the team's two-game series against St. Thomas, and should they make Canada, they would miss UMD's November series against Ohio State.
