Minnesota Frost assistant coach Mira Jalosuo will be stepping behind the bench next season as the new head coach for the St. Cloud State women's hockey program. Jalusuo was hired this week to replace Brian Idalski, who took the head coaching job with PWHL Vancouver.
"We are excited to have Mira back on our staff and leading the women's hockey program," said St. Cloud State director of athletics Holly Schreiner.
"It was fun to watch her success with the Minnesota Frost and win at the level that she did. She will be a great addition to our already strong coaching staff for this coming year."
Jalosuo helped the Frost to back-to-back Walter Cup champions and was the lone coaching staff member to survive a postseason purge following year one. She largely took over Minnesota's scouting and drafting for the 2024 and 2025 PWHL Drafts as well.
Jalosuo is excited to build on the legacy Brian Idalski was building in recent seasons.
"...I am excited to continue building on the foundation he built," said Jalosuo. "Coach Idalski turned the program around in three years and now it's my great honor to keep building the program. Knowing the players and coaching staff well, I believe this will be a smooth transition. This is an incredible opportunity to lead a talented and dedicated group of student-athletes. I cannot wait to get to work with this group and meet all the amazing Husky fans."
Jalosuo was an assistant at St. Cloud State in 2022-23 before joining the PWHL.
She was a long time member of Finland's national team playing at multiple Olympics and World Chanmpionships.
