The Minnesota Golden Gopher women's hockey team will face Wisconsin for a WCHA title after upsetting Ohio State in the Final Faceoff semi-finals.
Minnesota beat Ohio State 6-2. Minnesota scored six unanswered after falling behind 2-0.
“Very, very happy that we're moving on," said Minnesota head coach Brad Frost. “Really proud of our group, especially after getting down two goals there early, to fight back the way that we did. The power play was buzzing there to get us back into [the game], and then to get that two-goal lead there in the second [period] to get going into the third was huge. A huge penalty kill there, five-on-three when the game was still in doubt, and just some really, really good, smart and hard hockey by our team. Angling with our feet, taking away [Ohio State's] time and space, making them go 200 feet. Really proud of our group and excited for the opportunity to win a championship tomorrow."
Wisconsin beat Minnesota-Duluth 3-1.
Jocelyn Amos and Joy Dunne scored for Ohio State.
Jump starting the comeback, Abbey Murphy got Minnesota on the board for her 30th of the year. Before the end of the first Ella Huber tied the game 2-2.
Audrey Wethington scored the eventual winner in the second, before Ava Lindsay scored an insurance marker.
In the third, Murphy scored her second of the game before defender Chloe Primerano iced the game scoring an empty netter.
