Wisconsin is now 5-0, outscoring opponents 45-6 in that span after shutting out Minnesota State in their WCHA opener.

Number one ranked Wisconsin continued their show of force outscoring their opponents 45-6 through their first five games including a 6-0 win over Minnesota State to open their WCHA conference play Thursday night.

“Our line rushes and things in the offensive zone are good," said head coach Mark Johnson. "We’re getting a lot of quality chances and can capitalize on a bunch of them. What I like is that they’re sharing the puck, they’re moving the puck and our zone entries are really good. We’re doing a good job, and it’s still early in the season, so hopefully that can continue as we move on.”

Second year player Kirsten Simms continued her strong campaign scoring twice and picking up an assist in the game.

"It's awesome, we are getting our confidence up against teams in our conference," she said of the win over Minnesota State. "Knowing that we can go out there and control the pace, and move the puck the way we have been, it's a good feeling. It makes us feel more comfortable with each other, which is what we need for this group"

Lacey Eden also had two goals and an assist, while Britta Curl had a goal and two helpers, and defender Caroline Harvey registered three assists. Laila Edwards, who earlier in the day was announced as the only new member to Team USA for the upcoming Rivalry Series had a goal and an assist.

Jane Gervais finished with 22 saves in net for the shutout.

Wisconsin will again face Minnesota State tonight.
