Graduate netmidner Emma Gorski put in a historic effort for Robert Morris University to lead them to a 4-3 win over #14 Penn State, clinching a CHA playoff spot in the program's first year back on the ice.
Gorski made a program record 65-saves for Robert Morris as they beat Penn State 4-3 in overtime to clinch their playoff spot. For Gorski, she achieved the feat in front of her family, who made the trip from Wallaceburg, Ontario for senior day.
""It was amazing having my family here," said Gorski. "I love every chance I get to step in the crease. It was an electric feeling to win this game on senior day."
After falling behind 2-0, Alaina Giampietro got Robert Morris on the board before Madison Primeau tied it at 2-2 in the second. After Penn State answered to reclaim their lead, Janelle Evans tied the score at 3-3 heading to the third.
In the third, Gorski was spectacular stopping 26 shots to force overtime, where it was Evans who again found the net lifting RMU to the 4-3 win.
"This was one of the most exciting weekends in RMU Hockey history," said head coach Logan Bittle. "Our girls took on the challenge and rose to the occasion. Many people didn't think we'd be in the playoffs but we took down one of the best teams in the country. Now, we have some more work to do."
