Sanni Ahola has entered the Patty Kazmaier Award conversation. Her numbers were already sparkling, but her performance this weekend leading St. Cloud State to a 2-1 upset over top ranked Ohio State put the national lens on her achievements.
Ahola stopped 46 shots in the win, while her St. Cloud teammates managed to score twice on only 17 shots.
Ahola hasn't emerged into the conversation for major awards because she is currently splitting time in net with veteran JoJo Chobak. But her stats are eye popping.
Through eight starts, Finland's Ahola has a 7-1-0 record with five shutouts. She's posted a 0.75 GAA and .966 save percentage.
In Friday's win over number one Ohio State, St. Cloud State got goals from Greta Henderson and CC Bowlby.
