Robert Morris, Boston University, and Minnesota State will face-off in Nashville this weekend at the SMASHVILLE Women's Collegiate Hockey Showcase.
The SMASHVILLE Women's Collegiate Hockey Showcase is set to hit the Ford Ice Center Bellevue in Nashville, Tennessee this weekend featuring Boston University, Minnesota State University, and Robert Morris University.
The teams will play a round robin style tournament against each other vying for the guitar trophy, which last year went to Northeastern University.
“The SMASHVILLE Women’s Collegiate Hockey Showcase is an event that is always circled on our calendars,” Nashville Predators senior manager of diversity hockey Jennifer Boniecki said in a team news release. “We are so privileged with hosting some of the best talent that the NCAA has to offer. These three games will showcase some incredible hockey and offer young athletes the opportunity to watch and aspire to play in this event in the future.”
Robert Morris currently enters with the best record of the three teams at 7-7-0 in the CHA. According to Robert Morris head coach Logan Bittle, it's an opportunity for school's to face tests from out of conference.
“These mid-season tournaments provide the participating teams the opportunity to gain valuable experience playing schools from other leagues,” said Bittle. “At the same time, our ladies enjoy being involved in these events which help promote the growth of women’s hockey. It will be exciting for us to play in Nashville in front of so many girls' teams participating in the youth tournament!”
The tournament opens November 24 with Boston University facing Robert Morris, followed by Robert Morris facing off against Minnesota the following day, and Minnesota State and Boston University closing out the tournament on November 26.
The NCAA games are the same weekend as the annual SMASHVILLE Girls Hockey Showcase featuring youth teams from across North America.
