St. Cloud State defeated Northeastern and Lindenwood to capture the 2023 NCAA Ice Breaker championships.

St. Cloud State captured the annual NCAA Ice Breaker tournament title. St. Cloud shut out Northeastern and Lindenwood to capture the 2023 title.

In the opening game of the weekend, Sanni Ahola stopped all 21 shots she faced to shutout Northeastern. Katie Kaufman and Klára Hymlárová scored for St. Cloud State in the 2-0 win.

After Lindenwood defeated Sacred Heart 4-2, it set up a final between St. Cloud and Lindenwood, which St. Cloud State won 5-0.

Hymlárová scored a hat trick in the victory, while senior netminder Jojo Chobak stopped all 31 shots she faced for the shutout.

"We got a great start today – competed how we wanted to coming out and played with the lead, so happy with that," said St. Cloud head coach Brian Idalski in a school news release. "Overall, too many penalties. We got a lot of work on the penalty kill, we need to be able to adjust a little bit better with that. I'm happy for Jojo to get the shutout and keep that going as a club. Also a great weekend for Klára – she was terrific all the way around with the penalty kill, power play and 5-on-5 – super good weekend for her."

Devyn Millwater and CC Bowlby had the other goals for St. Cloud State who are now 6-2-0 on the season.

Northeastern defeated Sacred Heart 4-1 in the third place game.
