For the second straight year, the PWHL will return to Detroit, Michigan. Last year the PWHL Takeover Tour visited Detroit setting a new American attendance record for a professional women's hockey game of 13,736.
The mark was surpassed this season in Denver where 14,018 attended to see Montreal face Minnesota.
The Minnesota Frost will also be part of this year's Detroit stop on the PWHL Takeover Tour as they face the New York Sirens on March 16 at 7:30pm at Little Caesars Arena.
Four players from Michigan will be competing in the game in Minnesota defender Mellissa Channell-Watkinsn (Plymouth), as well as New York forwards Taylor Girard (Macomb), Elle Hartje (Detroit), and Abby Roque (Sault Ste. Marie).
On Saturday, both teams will take part in events at the BELFOR Training Center. New York will practice Saturday, March 15 (first 300 fans permitted entry) from 11:30am to 12:45pm with an autograph session following (first 50 fans only). Minnesota will follow with a practice from 1pm to 2:15pm with their own autograph session to follow (same fan restrictions apply).
Following the practices, a Local Girls Hockey Clinic is scheduled fom 2:30-3:30 with select New York and Minnesota players participating.
On the 16th, Detroit hockey fans will get a unique double-header with the Detroit Red Wings and Vegas Golden Knights playing at 1pm. PWHLN Executive Vice President's Jayna Hefford and Amy Scheer will both be on hand at the NHL game.
With PWHL expansion news forthcoming, and Hefford and Scheer leading that process, fans will also be watching for news from the combo.
The puck will drop on the PWHL's Takeover Tour stop in Detroit at 7:30pm.
